MYMP - Make Your Mama Pretty

Wednesday aftermoon, and Mom still got nothing to wear for a wedding in Thursday.  I went to the mall with Dad, and I was asked to buy a nice outfit for Mom.  I bought a simple top from People Are People (I know most clothes there are funky - but I proved it wrong when I purchased this top :D ).  The outfit was so dull without the bib necklace on.  I personally designed and handcraft the necklace, and it's one of my favorite!  My main goal was - make Mom look younger, and fashionable!

August Shoot

My second time to work with Charlene and Janelle, and first time to work with Archie Paungan.  Thanks guys.  Traveled from north to south!  Nevertheless, the shoot was indeed a success.  It was cool working with them.  :)

Less Is More

Notice the make-up worn by models in tv commercials?  Less is the key.  For tv ads (like skincare products, or those ads that demonstrate ordinary people – vendors, or mothers doing the laundry), they usually wear make-up that is unnoticeable.  Of course these models cannot come out on tv without wearing any tint.  The key that make-up artists use, is keeping everything natural and minimal.

The Red Lips

I used to watch my friend Keish when she was doing her make-up. She’s a flight attendant and she can’t ride the plane without “heavy” make-up. I called it heavy because she was wearing super red lips! She said it is a must for them to wear that lipstick color.

When I did the red lips for my model, I found it quite ironic, I first hated red lips, but it revealed the essence of make-up balancing. I enjoyed the simplicity and putting focus on one or two parts of your face. I wanted the focus on my model’s eyebrows and lips and kept the rest natural. One of the techniques I’ve learned in achieving red and luscious lips is to condition your lips before applying lipstick. It’ll make the application easier, and of course, smoother.

Get that Smoke

The most challenging! :D Prior to entering make-up school, I thought that when you say smokey eyes, it only meant black. But with this look, brown and bronze was also used to give balance in achieving the smokey look.

It wasn’t a challenge on Jonah’s eyelid, but the first time I did the smokey eyes, I found it messy. I learned the secret of holding tissue paper (put it on my model’s cheek) to catch the excess eyeshadow. After putting the eyeshadow, I lightly brushed away the excess on her cheeks. I wanted Jonah’s eyes to be the focal point and kept the rest of her face bare.

My First Touch

My first victim, my friend Isang! Haha. Kidding aside, I was really excited for my first touch, my first formal make-up lesson. Our mentor asked us to bring a “challenging” model. I first thought of my friend Isang, because of her super thin eyebrows! :D

True enough, your eyebrows can make or break your face. Ungroomed and unshaped eyebrows can really ruin your entire look. I did the day look for Isang, and I believe she learned a lot on make-up that she can wear when going to the office or going to the mall. My first model was indeed, happy with the outcome. Thanks bru!
