Canmake Cream Cheek in Number 09

I am not a super fan of cream blushes but when I was browsing around Watson's I figured out that I am in need of a blush.  I don’t intend to buy anything high end since I don’t wear blush everyday.  But I have to admit, blush is something that can be used for emergencies.  Just like red lips, blush can easily turn your dull face into something more alive.  The sales person at Watson’s Ion approached me and she recommended the cream blush from Canmake which she said is one of their popular items.  I hesitated at first because I would normally wear a matte finish and I prefer my face to be clean and not shiny.  I feel that somehow cream blushes are more appropriate for dewy look.  But she convinced me well enough that I paid for it after she has shown me all the shades.

I chose this purplish pink cream blush which I thought I don’t own any similar shade yet.  I have some peach and darker pink blushes and I thought of settling into something more on the cooler side.

It’s a pretty pink that goes well with neutral eyeshadow and light pink lipstick.  I love the texture because it’s not greasy at all when I applied it to my cheeks.  The only downside is the lasting power.  I don’t know if it’s just my skin, but my makeup used to stay for long hours but this one needs a touch up after maybe 5 hours of wearing it.

Here’s a quick swatch.
It looks very pretty when blended out well.

I am sure to wear this specially on my lazy days that I want a fresh look without taking so much time applying makeup to the rest of my face.  =)

Missha Mania

Two months ago, as I was on my way to the gym,  I walked pass Missha at AMK Hub and I tried to check out the store to see if they got anything that would interest me.  I knew that they are popular with their BB creams (which I am also a fan) but I never knew that they are also selling amazing makeup.

What caught my eye was their The Style Mono Touch Shadow.  They have really nice range, but I am just seriously a sucker for neutrals, hence, I chose this brown shade which is really great for everyday makeup and silver with a lot of shimmer for night outs.

Missha Mono Touch Shadow JGA02
Missha Mono Touch Shadow NBR02

Both are really pigmented.  I purchased it for about S$5 each.  The only downside that I could think of is, it doesn’t have a decent packaging.  It only comes with this hard plastic cover.  But of course, I could not complain much because this thing only cost few bucks.

One more thing that caught my attention was their makeup brushes.  I was a bit hesitant when I saw this.  But when I tried it at home, this brush is really soft!  I use it to apply powder on my under eye area and so far, it has been serving its purpose.  This is actually an eyeshadow blending brush but since it’s tapered, I feel that I just found the perfect brush to team up with my Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit.  I love that it is perfect to target the areas that a powder brush could not do when I set my cream / liquid concealer.  I am also physically attracted to this brush because it’s gold!  It looks sooo grand!

To purchase again from Missha?  A big YES! =)

Review: BECCA Boudoir Skin Mineral Powder Foundation

I am a bit frustrated about my purchase of Becca Mineral Powder.  Don’t get me wrong.  I am totally inlove with the formula, the coverage, and the finish of this product but what upsets me is that I did not get the correct shade.  I am totally disappointed.

I bought this from Escentials at Paragon for about $50+ (was not able to keep the receipt) and it’s a big frustration that it is not the right shade for me.  Rapture is way too dark for my skin tone.  I am NC30 and when I tried it at home, I felt that it was a little too dark for me.  But of course, benefit of the doubt, I thought that I might just be having a “darker day” and I thought of giving it another shot.  My big mistake was, I did not even try it when I was in the store because I sort of have a full trust with beauty consultants.  But not to this one because after few days, I searched online and the shade that reviews recommend for NC30 is the shade "Dream" .

After the whining has been done, whew!  It feels so much better and now I can talk about the product itself.  Haha.

Coverage is amazing.  It feels light and yet the coverage is medium – heavy although it is not as heavy as MAC Studio Fix.  It is a mineral powder, but the good thing about it is there is no visible shine to it, as compared to other mineral powders.  It feels very light on the skin and looks a lot natural.

Staying Power is excellent too.

Packaging wise is simple but on the mid-high end look with it's rubber and metal case.

Downside:  It's too tiny and it's really pricey.  But I feel that it is just fair for the quality that I am getting.

To repurchase this again?  Definitely!  But I am sure to try it in the store first, before purchasing.  =)

This can also be purchased online, try Luxola.  They have an excellent customer service and they offer next day delivery.  The best cool thing about this online shop, they send sms to update roughly what time the delivery is arriving.  Isn't it amazing? =)

Review: Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner

I use eyeliner every single day and I have been trying to look for products that would work well with my shaky hands. Haha. For some weird reason, my hands are a bit shaky when I'm applying on my own eyes, but a lot more stable when applying on other people.

Here's a review on one of my online purchases: Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil.

The best thing I like about it is, it is very easy to use, at least for me. I use it when I want to go for darker and thicker lines instead of the normal everyday look. It has a feel that is very similar to using liquid or gel eyeliner. I am taking advantage of this product especially now that I wear falsies every single day. The only downside of this, it is very fragile and I would usually sharpen it after the 3rd time I use it.  And for that reason, I have purchased a back-up for this since it is still available online.

Milani is not available in Singapore drugstore, but I purchased mine online. Check out Undertwenty.  They sell amazing cosmetics that are hardly available in Singapore.

Flea!!!

This is the second time I visited Scape for its flea market.  S$5 each!  I love! =)

Pastel Is Everywhere

I love how pastel colors can work together. It's just effortless. Was looking for clothes to wear til I found this comfy pants (it has been months since I last wore it). I didn't want to pair it another white or black, so I thought of something sweet. Then I came up with pastel all the way!

But I couldn't leave home with pastel pink lips. Haha.

It has been weeks since I purchased this lip stain from Sephora. I just realized now how pretty it is!

The photo doesn't justify the real color! I am making a review with decent photos =)

Happy Independence Day Pilipinas!

There are too many things a Filipino can do to help the country.  I just thought of 11 simple things.  I know you can think of 20, or maybe a hundred, but I have only thought of 11 simple things any/every Filipino can do to make a difference.

1)  Throw your candy wrapper in the rubbish bin. If you can't see any, keep it in your bag or in your pocket. Throwing it anywhere makes you stupid and uneducated.

2)  If you have 5k Pesos in your bank account, think of something creative and start your own business; hire an employee. By doing this, you are saving an umployed Filipino, and you are making a difference.

3)  Shut up. Stop whining. But start wondering what you can do to help your country. You see, not everything is the president's fault, or the government's shortcomings. You as a person has a responsibility. There's a fine line between doing something wrong, and doing nothing at all. Doing something little, can already make a difference. If everyone can make a difference, then Philippines will definitely progress and develop into a better country to live in.

4)  Instead of spending 6k pesos on your birthday party, decrease it to 3k. The other half can be generously spent by repacking some goods for less fortunate families.

5)  Be a responsible tourist. Whether it be in our own country or overseas. Tone down your voice when you are inside the MRT, bus or any form of public transportation. This will allow people in the place that you are visiting to, to have a good impression on you as a Filipino. Act as if you are educated, even if you are not.

6)  Respect other religion. This will definitely avoid arguments. And war.

7)  Join works of charity. Volunteer on social works, or free tutorial to children. If you do not have the money, I am very sure you have the time. You can't lack both. Give some time to join a group intentionally created to help others.

8)  When it's poo time for your dog, I am pretty sure that you will bring him out and walk around the village. Bring a plastic bag to pick up his poop. Or bring a newspaper and try to catch it when he's already in the act of doing it. This allows a cleaner environment and more pleasant smell in your village.

9)  After having your meal at Jollibee, pick up your tray, throw your trash to the rubbish bin (especially if you are a socialite carrying LV bag but enjoys dining in at Jollibee). This act will definitely influence most people to throw their trashes instead of waiting for employees to clean up their mess.

10)  Be responsible in using social networking sites. Provide good information and good vibes.

11)  And last but not the least, get a job.  If you can't get a job, get a life.  Stop bragging about what you have and stop spreading about other people's mishaps.  Remember, you may have some desirable things that not many people may have, but what you may lack is, a life.

P.S: Sabi ko na eh, hindi lang makeup at damit ang alam ko :p

Let's all celebrate our Independence today, but let us take a step in doing something for our country's tomorrow.  Remember, all forms of independence come with a big responsibility.

Lazy Saturday

It was a lazy saturday.

This is one thing great about weekends off, I can go to the mall with Jay. =)

I just thought of something comfortable because I knew I would be spending hours of walking.

My makeup shouts comfort too. No falsies, no eyeliner. Just a clean face and pink lips.

Pilyo.

I promise to buy more of Chanel lippies on my next travel. Hihi.

B For Bangkok! (Beeennngggkkkkoookk!!)

The unplanned trip has happened.

And this, a super late post.

Bangkok is one of the cities Jay and I have been planning to go to. The planned Bkk trip on June has happened a bit earlier. We initially planned to take the train from Singapore but then again we thought of comfort. (Just a trivia- there's no such thing as taking the train from SG to BKK; you need to take trains from different stations and there's no train that goes directly to BKK). We were eyeing for a real vacation (which spells r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n). We have not been going out together due to conflict in work schedule, but this, truly was a wish come true.

We arrived in BKK at past 19:00 (Bkk time).

Charles was waiting for us in the airport with his friend who assisted us to find a good place to stay. Our first night was spent at S.D. Avenue Hotel which is at the downtown. The place? Not bad, except that we were expecting that people in the hotel could speak English well. It was pretty hard to communicate with them :( (to think that they are in the service industry). Price wise, for a night it was a bit pricey. We had dinner at a store beside the hotel. Food was superb! (sorry for not taking photos of what we had). Oh well, I don't think I can take photos with an empty stomach! Haha.

The morning after, we were up really early to maximize our stay in Bangkok. After having breakfast at McDonalds, we headed back to the hotel and tried to look for another place to stay.

Good morning!! =)

There we found Baan Rangnam. Service wise, it was all good! The staff were all very nice and friendly. And the place was very clean and spacious! It was a like a one-bedroom apartment - fully furnished! Price? $1800 baht for a night. Not bad ey!

Happy that we found a new place to stay! Haha

Walking/food/shopping on my next post! =)
